Automotive grilles and inserts are components where precise fit, symmetry of cells, and structural strength are crucial. Original parts are often hard to find or expensive, making 3D printing a fast and cost-effective solution for restoration.

In this project, 3D WAY produced a grille for a Chevrolet Corvette tailored to a specific mounting point. To ensure an accurate reproduction of the original shape, we completed the full workflow: 3D scanning, digital restoration and model adaptation, printing, and finishing.

Project steps:

• 3D scanning of the original part to capture geometry and mounting points
• 3D modeling: refinement of shape, stiffening ribs, and mounting areas
• FDM 3D printing with PET-G — a material suitable for functional automotive parts due to strength and durability
• Post-processing to achieve a clean finish and prepare the part for installation

Result: a ready-to-install part with precise geometry, perfect fit, and reliable performance.
